ASCRS instructional course “Immediate Sequential Bilateral Cataract Surgery—Current Status in the USA and the World”

After several attempts, an ISBCS instructional course was accepted for the ASCRS meeting in New Orleans in May 2016.

Updates on ISBCS statistics in various countries and health care organisations as well as FLACS-ISBCS, infection prophylaxis and risk management were provided. Notably two presenters were from the United States. Around 70 colleagues attended the course, and feedback was positive, several responses indicating that ISBCS is considered as a more and more viable and safe option in correctly selected cases.
