After more than 10 years of efforts to provide updated information about immediate sequential bilateral cataract surgery, and a forum for surgeons interested in the concept, the iSBCS executive (Steve Arshinoff, Charles Claoué de Gohr Cyres Mehta and Bjorn Johansson) this year gathered for a strategic meeting in order to outline the future activities of the society.
We observe that the cautious attitude towards ISBCS among surgeons may often depend on reimbursement issues. As reimbursement regulations change, ISBCS may be considered a more plausible alternative. The experiences and scientific contributions from iSBCS executive and members are expected to attract increased interest in the near future. At the same time, the society should look for new channels to provide information to organisations and health care authorities. The executive is currently investigating suitable options in this respect. We encourage all members to provide input and any suggestions in this matter.
Updates regarding this exciting development will be posted shortly. Keep in touch!
